The Strength of Cooperation
United by the Land, Driven by Passion
Founded in 1961 by a group of local winegrowers, Colle Moro has grown steadily over the decades, establishing itself as a key reference point within the Abruzzo wine sector.
Over time, the winery has strengthened its market presence and built a solid network of growers. Today, it brings together approximately 500 members and 1,000 hectares of vineyards.
From the outset, its mission has been clear: to craft quality wines that reflect market expectations while remaining faithful to the tastes of the final consumer.
Colle Moro produces an extensive portfolio of wines, ranging from fresh and aromatic whites to full-bodied, well-structured reds, including the iconic Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, a symbol of Abruzzese viticulture.
Recognised both nationally and internationally, Colle Moro wines have earned numerous awards—evidence of the winery’s continuous commitment to quality, innovation, and excellence.
Through the adoption of modern technologies and a meticulous winemaking process, the winery produces wines that stand out for their high quality and their ability to convey the true character of the territory.
A strong focus on sustainability guides every step, from vineyard management to cellar practices, with environmentally respectful techniques and support for organic viticulture.
Alongside its consolidated presence in the Italian market, Colle Moro has expanded its international reach, bringing its wines to a growing number of countries worldwide.
A Glimpse into the Past
1950s
A Return to the Origins: The Cultivation of Table Grapes
The cultivation and sale of table grapes represented the main source of livelihood for the families of the small town of Frisa.
The landscape was covered with colorful pergola-trained vineyards, and Pergolone—a crisp, large-berried grape variety—was the undisputed protagonist on local tables.

The First Step: The Foundation and the Early Vinifications
“It was not easy. There were many challenges, starting with the choice of the site and the financial resources required. But our determination led us to form a cooperative among the farmers of Guastameroli, Frisa, Badia, and Sant’Apollinare.”
1961-1963
On February 4th, 1961, the cooperative’s bylaws were officially established, and in 1963 the construction of the winery began.
“I still remember the smile of the first member, pleased to have delivered his harvest. From that day on, we understood that this would mark the beginning of an exciting journey.”
1963-1964
The Success of Colle Moro
In its first year, the winery processed approximately 14,000 quintals of grapes, with a payout of 222 lire per degree of sugar content.
Within a few years, the number of members increased, and the winery began to expand.
Early 1970s
In 1964, the first semi-automatic bottling line was nistalled.
Over the following decades, the winery experienced a period of growth, welcoming numerous new winegrowers and significantly increasing production.
Bulk wine was sold to many clients both in Italy and abroad, including the NATO military command in Naples.
